THE MAKING OF KAZAKHSTAN’S STATEHOOD

The collection traces the making of Kazakh statehood — from the Kazakh Khanate and the biys of the Great Steppe to the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The holdings include academic works on the history of law and government, published sources and chronicles, studies of Alash-Orda and the national liberation movements, and documentary collections on constitutional development.

The collection grows through acquisitions from state and private holdings and through donations by researchers and partner libraries. Rare and especially valuable copies are issued in the reading room only; digital copies are available to registered portal users.
